StartSomeGood + Tilt = #StartingGood Virtual Summit 2018

From March 19th — 30th, 2018 StartSomeGood and Tilt will be working together to run the FREE #StartingGood Virtual Summit 2018.

My name is Jackie Colmar, and I am the Director of the #StartingGood Virtual Summit 2018 as well as the founder of Tilt — a social enterprise whose mission is to supercharge the movement of better business.

This year I have partnered with the StartSomeGood crew to help grow the #StartingGood Virtual Summit 2018.

For those of you who don’t know, last year StartSomeGood ran the #StartingGood Virtual Summit 2017 — a free online event for changemakers and social innovators. Over 10 days 1,300 participants from around the world came together to hear and learn from leaders and inspiring founders in the social innovation space including Bill Drayton, the founder of Ashoka, and best selling author Clay Shirky.

Last year I was just beginning my journey with Tilt, a media company for social entrepreneurs, and was looking for opportunities to learn more about how to create change through social enterprise.

However being a young person from Melbourne, I didn’t have money to attend events that could help me bring my vision to life — such as the Social Enterprise World Forum — where I could learn from and connect with leaders in the social innovation space.

Then I came across the #StartingGood Virtual Summit event, a super accessible and fantastic experience which helped me to learn more about the journey of the social entrepreneur, how to overcome the common challenges that all changemakers face, such as how to communicate your mission and how to find funding. I left feeling PUMPED!

Having experienced the impact that such an event can have on people passionate about creating change, I wanted to work to share this experience with as many people as possible, which is why I am working to help bring the #StartingGood Virtual Summit back in 2018.

The #StartingGood Virtual Summit is a free virtual summit, where changemakers can connect online and hear from some of the world’s leading social innovators and impact entrepreneurs.

But wait…why are we doing this for free!?

Quite frankly, we think social entrepreneurship rocks and has incredible potential to make a difference in some of the world’s most entrenched social and environmental issues.

The #StartingGood Virtual Summit has the potential to greatly impact those who often face barriers to these types of events and can act as a catalyst to supercharge the journey of those who are passionate about doing good.

And while there are already some great conferences and summits out there, these events are often expensive to take part in, and/or are inaccessible to those who live in more remote geographical locations. Instead of inspiring and empowering more people from all backgrounds and communities, these events can disempower those in our community who don’t have the resources to participate.

For these reasons, we think it is crucial to run a summit that is free for all and as easily accessible as possible — all you need is internet!

Our vision for 2018
